2019 JAPANESE CHERRY FESTIVAL
In order to promote cultural exchange between BiH and Japan, the City of Sarajevo, the Embassy of Japan in BiH, and the Japanese non-governmental organization Ipil-Ipil no Kai organized a cultural exchange day called the Japanese Cherry Festival ("Sakura Matsuri") at Nijaz Duraković Square (Hastahana Park).
Japanese traditionally observe cherry blossom with food and drink in the company of family, friends, and work colleagues. This tradition celebrates the arrival of spring, new beginnings, and the beauty of life. It is a time for man to slow down and renew contact with himself and others, and to reflect on life, as well as death, with the example of a cherry blossom, which does not bloom for more than two weeks - his life is short, but filled with beauty and grace.
Hanami has been practiced since before the time of the samurai. The program was enriched by performers of traditional Japanese music and CAA Baščaršija. CAA Baščaršija presented itself with vocal groups "Dunje" and "Zora", vocal soloist, folk orchestra and folk ensemble.
