From our heritage
During the 76 years of its existence, the depo of CAA Baščaršija has been enriched with many original parts of traditional folk costumes as well as the reconstructions of original parts of costumes, not only from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from the whole Balkan region. Remaining consistent with its social and cultural function, CAA Baščaršija, by exhibiting a small part of material and spiritual cultural heritage, through a thematic exhibition in a special and specific way, brought visitors closer to part of its artwork through the BAŠ Gallery, a place where you can breathe in tradition. For this exhibition, presented in a pleasant ambience, about 70 exhibits that testify to the artistic and aesthetic domains of folk art in our area were selected. The exhibits introduce us to textile processing aids, traditional furniture in Bosnian houses, parts of the city’s men’s and women’s costumes, and costumes from the Bjelašnica mountain. At the same time, elements of Christian costumes from the Sarajevo Field and women’s Croatian costumes from the province of Sutjeska were exhibited. The exhibition is accompanied by adequately selected photographs of people in traditional clothing, music notes, songs and the way they dance. An integral part of the exhibition are video presentations of the work of CAA Baščaršija.
